Would you join us in prayer…
We would greatly appreciate your prayers on an ongoing problem we have had since the week before Easter.
We have not had our vehicle since before Easter. Considering that this is our main mode of transportation for ministry, not having a working car has hindered us from being able to do quite a bit. We have been able to rent a vehicle to use while we wait, wait, and wait some more on news from the mechanics, but it is also a great desire to be good stewards with the finances you have so generously and faithfully given to us. The cost of renting a vehicle for a long period of time, along with mounting repair costs for our car, we believe, does not make good stewards. For that we deeply apologize, and we hope you can understand our hearts and frustrations with this situation. As you can imagine, this entire issue has been of great stress to us. Especially with all of the end of the school year commitments (both at the FH & ECA), Jack’s graduation from ECA.
For those of you who appreciate the details when it comes to car problems, I wish I could give you the ins and outs, but cars are just not my thing. However, if you do have questions, please reach out. I will do my best to find answers for any questions you might have. It has always been our desire to be transparent with you.

Would you please PRAY with us…
  • That our vehicle would be repaired within the next few days.
  • That the end cost for these repairs, we would be able to afford. We have already paid out over 1,000 euros for initial repairs and these next repairs are looking to be possibly double that initial amount.
  • That our attitudes would show grace and patience. We are human and sometimes our frustrations get the better of us, unfortunately.
  • That with the repairs of our vehicle, we would be able to continue to use our vehicle serving the Lord and those around us.
  • That above all, in all, and through all, our God would be glorified.
We appreciate each and every one of you so much. We are forever thankful that we have a family we can turn to in times of hardships, knowing that you will join us on our knees in prayer.

Much love & many blessings,

Sean & Ruthann

Some well deserved pomp & circumstance…

In May of 2020, just barely passing our first year anniversary of living in Spain, our oldest son graduated from Evangelical Christian Academy (ECA). Because of Covid and the mandates that Spain had in place, Andrew did not get to walk across a stage. He did not get to have his hand shook while being handed his diploma. He did not get to toss his cap into the air and cheer with his graduating class for all they had accomplished and all that was yet to come. We are pleased to announce that on Friday, May 2nd, Andrew graduated cum laude from Arizona Christian University with a major in Behavioral Health and a minor in Bible. Sean and I were able to be there to cheer our boy on for all that he has accomplished both personally and academically, as well as all that the Lord is doing and about to do in his life. We are incredibly proud parents and humbled by how the Lord has blessed us with these beautiful children and bonus daughter. Our Lord has brought us so far! (Image of Andrew’s graduation).
And then there were none…

While we were away for Andrew’s graduation, the last of our 3 spring teams arrived. Grand Canyon University’s College of Education was here, once again, to serve at the Friendship House as well as at Evangelical Christian Academy. Although this is the 3rd time we have invited GCU – COE to serve alongside us, with each new visit they pour into us and ministry more and more. What a blessing they are! This year the team of 8 served 3 days at the Friendship House participating in their own class of language learning as well as serving our younger students in the afternoon kids program. At the end of the week, the team served two days at ECA. One day learning about the ministry opportunities at ECA, and the second day participating in their annual sports day program. One unique facet of GCU’s visit this year was we were able to have two graduated educators teach in two of our elementary classrooms. What a blessing it was to watch these girls give our teachers a little break as well as what fun it was to watch our elementary students love on the GCU team so well. Our 3rd grade class had heard of GCU’s pending arrival. On the day they were to visit the school, elementary students could be heard cheering in the halls “GCU! GCU! GCU!” The third grade class have all announced that they plan to be future Lopes one day. (Images of GCU-COE & 3rd grade class at ECA)

Summer plans…

It’s hard to believe we are at that time of year yet again. In an effort to help Jack transition well back to the United States, Evi and myself will be stateside over the summer. We hope to find a job for Jack. (If you have any leads please let me know. ASAP) We also hope to take care of several logistical items while we are stateside. Our list is long, but we know our God is bigger. We would greatly appreciate your prayers for this time. We are hoping for Sean to join us mid July. Prayers specifically for that would be even more appreciated as we hate to be apart for such a long period of time.
While we are stateside it is my desire to meet with YOU! We would love to know how you and your family are doing as well as answer any questions you may have about family, ministry or us individually. It is also my hope to be able to meet with new potential partner churches and individuals. If we are currently not partnered with your church, we most certainly would love to be. Would you be willing to introduce us?
Also, if there is a specific day you would like to get together, I would love to add you to our calendar. We don’t want to miss out on seeing you and giving hugs.
Jack, Evi and myself will be in AZ from June 13 through August 20. Let me know what day(s) works best for you!
Praises & Prayers…
  • In April we received some very exciting and humbling news. We were contacted by a dear friend asking if we had a small moment to video call. We could not have anticipated what our God gifted us next. We are so very humbled and blessed to announce that Grace Church of Chino Valley is now partnering with our family in the ministry. You may remember, a few summers back, we had the opportunity of visiting the young adults group of Grace Church. Since that time the Lord has blessed this faithful congregation, and in return, the church desired to be faithful with all that the Lord has blessed them with. We are so excited to be apart of the Grace family! Would you pray that they would continue to be faithful servants of our great God? Would you pray that the Lord would continue to bless and provide for this congregation?
  • Also in April I reviewed some hard health news. In a routine check up my doctor did not like how my heart was looking. If you recall, 10 years ago, it was discovered that I had some heart issues. Issues that only needed to be checked up on but issues that are completely manageable. With this most recent check up, the cardiologist requested I have a special test done to see a more clear picture of my heart. I had this test this last week and it was discovered I have a small hole in my heart or most commonly known as a PFO. PFO’s are very common. Babies are born with them and typically over time the hole closes. Mine did not. I am currently in the process of getting more appointments with a cardiologist to determine next steps. It is my prayer I will be able to see a doctor while I am stateside. Would you please pray for peace for this “health hiccup”? Would you pray that the Lord would provide me a doctor with a sympathetic ear for our situation of living and serving overseas and that they would have the desire to help me better understand this condition and what my next steps should be for my long term health?
  • Praise for Andrew’s graduation from Arizona Christian University. Pray that the Lord would grant him wisdom in determining what is next for his career.
  • Praise for the time of having Grand Canyon University’s College of Education here to serve.
  • Pray for GCU’s team members as they determine what the Lord has next for them whether that be teaching locally or globally.
  • Pray for Jack as he prepares to graduate from Evangelical Christian Academy at the end of this month. Pray that he would be able to secure a job this summer so that he can have some savings for college in the fall. Pray for wisdom for Jack as he plans and prepares to attend Gordon College in Massachusetts.

Quick family update…
Y’all heard about Andrew and Jack, but what’s going on with Ethan and Evi??? Ethan is staying in California this summer as he secured a position to be a summer resident advisor at Azusa Pacific. He is also currently looking for an internship with a local church so he can meet that requirement for his graduation in spring of 2026. Evi decided to take a leap of faith and apply to be a part of ECA’s student government for next school year. After a week of campaigning and ultimately giving a speech before the student body, she was voted in to be student counsel secretary. Sean and I are so proud of how she presented herself before the school and staff. She exhibited great confidence and poise.
We would appreciate your prayers for both Ethan and Evi. Prayers for Ethan as he is getting ready to begin his last year of college at Azusa Pacific and prayers for Evi as she prepares to be the only child. She is incredibly close to each of her brothers and all though she is so proud of all that they are doing, we know she misses each of them horribly.
